Ellery McLanahan is the owner of McLanahan Tennis Academy in Austin, Texas. He has been a USPTA P1 Pro since 1996. This is the highest tested rating possible and is achieved by scoring in the 90th percentile on the USPTA Certification Exam.

A tournament player for more than 20 years, Ellery has been ranked #7 in Men’s Open in the Texas Section in 1997,  #2 in Men’s 25s in 1998, and #3 in Men’s 35s in 2003.  He won the Texas Sectionals in Men’s 25s in 1998 and 1999, the Texas Excellence Invitational in Men’s 25s in 1999 and a Silver Ball in the  National Hardcourt Men’s 30s Doubles in 2003.

As a tennis coach, Ellery has developed five Top-100 nationally ranked—and over 50 Texas super-champ—juniors since 1997.  He has coached junior teams to 3rd place at State in Gold White in Spring 2007 and 2nd place at State in Gold Blue in Fall of 2007 in USA Team Tennis, Texas Section.

Ellery earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1991. The Austin City Council honored him with a  Certificate of Congratulations for taking a junior team to Nationals in Team Tennis in 2002.  Ellery received CATA’s Junior Pro of the Year award in 2006.
